Karabo Tshailane Nondumo

Karabo Tshailane Nondumo is a prominent figure in the African business landscape, known for her entrepreneurial acumen and leadership across various sectors. As a director on the boards of listed companies and an investor in growth sectors in Africa, she plays a pivotal role in shaping corporate governance, entrepreneurial flair and strategy on the continent. Her passion for Africa and its potential is evident in her role as the founder and curator of Klink Africa, a platform dedicated to celebrating the richness and diversity of the African continent. Through Klink Africa, Karabo aims to highlight the achievements and contributions of Africans from all walks of life. Her commitment to giving back to her community underscores her belief in the importance of social responsibility. She chairs the Mabindu Development Trust that supports black-owned enterprises, historically disadvantaged schools and black students. She is a trustee of the Ubuntu Botho Women’s Upliftment Trust, focusing on contributing to the improvement of the poor, unemployed and marginalised South African women. She also chairs the finance committee of The Thandulwazi Math and Science Academy, a pioneering initiative of St Stithians College to provide educational growth opportunities for students and teachers based in public schools in greater Johannesburg.

Karabo’s journey to success is rooted in her humble beginnings. Growing up in the village of Luka in Rustenburg, South Africa, she attended a public primary school a testament to her resilience and determination from an early age. Her transition to a high school with a higher-level educational system presented challenges, but through hard work and dedication, she excelled academically. Despite uncertainty about her future career path, Karabo’s encounter with an accounting firm during a vacation job provided clarity and inspiration. Recognising her potential, her guidance teacher facilitated this opportunity, igniting her interest in accounting and setting her on a trajectory towards success. She is now a qualified Chartered Accountant and a force to be reckoned with in the business landscape.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Karabo has been guided by a strong support system, particularly her mother, who instilled in her the belief that she could achieve anything she sets her mind to. Her two boys are a constant inspiration and source of joy. This unwavering support has been a source of motivation, self-belief and determination for Karabo. She has also benefitted from mentorship from business leaders across the continent, further reinforcing the belief in the vast potential and opportunity that resides in this continent of Africa. As she reflects on her life’s journey, Karabo does so with gratitude for the experiences, people, and opportunities that have shaped her path.
